OMhAS launches comprehensive training for managers and leaders in workplace mental health

When it comes to mental health, one of the biggest challenges managers face is a lack of confidence. Depending on which body of research you read, between 70 and over 80% of managers feel unequipped to deal with workplace mental health. This means that currently a huge proportion of managers do not know how to hold confident conversations about mental health, how to address problems nor how to be a positive role model.

As we approach Mental Health Awareness Month “MHAM” (taking place 1st – 31st May 2024), large numbers of organisations are expressing commitment to running initiatives throughout the month to promote positive change in workplace culture. At OMhAS, we applaud all initiatives designed to encourage positive action on mental health, however, we believe that one of the most important steps an organisation can take, is to properly educate and train your people leaders so that they feel confident in understanding their role in workplace mental health and how to execute it.

We are therefore delighted to announce that our manager/leader training is now available. This training has been developed by people-managers experienced in dealing with workplace mental health and has been reviewed and approved by mental health practitioners. It has also been sampled and approved by a diverse group of delegates pre-launch, including senior business leaders and HR and talent management professionals.

The key features of our training are:-

  • It provides clear practical training in spotting signs of poor mental health.

  • It provides guidance on how to look after and improve mental health.

  • It explains where and how to access help when required.

  • It explains clearly the manager/leader’s role in workplace mental health.

  • It provides detailed guidance on how to hold confident conversations on workplace mental health.

  • It provides clear and detailed guidance on how to be a positive role model.

  • It provides clear guidance on how to address problems arising from mental health.

  • It is affordable, it is provided remotely (so you don’t need to take everyone away from their day jobs for long periods) and it should take 2 hours or less of the delegate’s time.

  • Detailed learning summaries are also provided to take away for future reference.

To every organisation preparing to mark MHAM with odd-sock wearing, head shaving, group cookery sessions, talks from experts, sponsored walks et al, we salute you and wish you every success, but please do also take the time to reflect on whether your managers and leaders are currently equipped to promote positive change within your organisation. If not, please feel free to contact us on: help@OMhAS.co.uk to find out more about our highly-rated training.
